Governance
The overall operation of ICB is based on seven key elements:
- A shared strategy on emerging research validated by a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB)
- Doctoral and post-doctoral contract opportunities for innovative and collaborative projects
- Financial support for equipment through resource pooling organized into platforms
- Scientific animation built on the expertise and for the needs of the teams of ICB
- Comprehensive training programs, both theoretical and practical, for initial and lifelong learning
- A unified data management policy
- Communication activities
The Institute of Biological Chemistry is overseen by a steering committee and a scientific advisory board (SAB).
The steering committee includes the coordinator and the five heads of the laboratories (LCBPT, CITCoM, UTCBS, Chem4Life, IBPC). It is responsible for monitoring project progress, organizing consortium meetings and events, launching project calls, and preparing an annual activity report to be presented to the scientific council. The committee meets every months.
The scientific advisory board consists of five foreign external scientists, two representatives from the socio-economic sector, and the vice-presidents for research from the Faculties of Sciences, Health, and the Pasteur Institute (or their representatives). The board approves the institute’s strategy and research directions and evaluates its achievements. It is consulted for the scientific evaluation of all applications.
The steering committee and the SAB meet in person once a year. During this meeting, this board proceeds with the selection of application files for the project calls launched by the institute: thesis projects, post-doctoral positions, platform renovation aid requests, applications from teams wishing to join the consortium.
Requests for financial support on an ongoing basis will be examined by the steering committee, if necessary with the help of the scientific advisory board: participation to conferences for PhD/post-doc, coverage of platform fees, international conferences organization.
